Advantages of the hollow fid

The hollow needle is an intuitive and easy to use product, ideal for those just starting out in ropework. Made ofstainless steel, the hollow fid is robust and long lasting: it does not lose its shape even when it is forced through the rope. But never pull on it with a ply or any other tool. Once it is scratched, the surface of the hollow fid hooks onto the fibres of the rope and damages it !

The rope to splice (la future the core /a>)is inserted into the hollow part, at the back of the needle. A small metal tip enables the rope to be hooked and maintained in place. To make a splice, we separate the fuseaux de la braid and insert the needle into it be sure to pass between the plaitsto avoid causing damage to the rope). The fid is pushed inside the future Sheath sheath by pushing the rope towards the back of the hollow needle. This movement has the effect of opening the tresseand to enable to push forwardthe core inside the cover.
