Dyneema® RSK99 braid

The sizing and hot pre-stretching of this Dyneema RSK99 braid provide improved tensile strength and abrasion resistance for a diameter comparable to a braid that would not be pre-stretched, and virtually zero elongation. It’s the ideal material for maneuvers requiring high stiffness, standing rigging (shrouds, backstays) and other textile cables.

The pre-stretching technique, which takes place after braiding, expels air from the braid, making it more compact and stabilizing its length. A braid that has not been pre-stretched will lengthen after it has been put in place.

Pre-stretching:

The pre-stretchingstabilizes the length of the Rope under load by eliminating the spaces between the spindles created by braiding. Pre-stretched Dyneema ® Ropes offer superior mechanical properties.

It is more compact and has a smaller diameter because the air has been expelled from the Dyneema braid.Elongation under load is greatly reduced, and abrasion resistance is better because the surface area of fibers in contact with the outside is smaller.
