Dyneema® SK78 mini braid spool

Dyneema® SK78 braid spools are available in 3 different diameters. It’s a high-quality 12-strand single braid manufactured by Robline, with very low elongation and good abrasion and UV resistance. It’s always useful to have one or two spools on board in case of a problem.

If the chemical name “high-modulus polyethylene” doesn’t ring a bell, you’ve probably heard of Dyneema ® or Spectra ®, the two brands marketed respectively by DSM Dyneema™ and Honeywell™. With a similar elongation at break but higher breaking strength than aramid fibers (eight times that of stainless steel), high-modulus polyethylene has rapidly replaced them in industrial (oil rig mooring, for example) and military applications. The advantage of Dyneema® is that it resists UV rays as well asabrasion.
